An Interview with Macca Cloke
I first met Macca at a recent photoshoot in Tauranga for Pure Dance. I loved how full of life and fun she was, in addition to being gorgeous with an infectious smile. Not long after this I invited her to join me in Auckland for a headshot/styled session with our amazing makeup artist, Isabelle Finley Reid. We had the best time together and captured some beautiful shots. I decided to do a little interview with her, see below.
“My name is Macca Cloke. I am 9 years old. I dance at Diamond Studios in Tauranga for Jazz, contemporary, musical theatre, hip hop & acro. I am a ballet student at Gillian Moore School of Dance and my singing teacher is Sammie Campell from Collision Theatre Company. I have been dancing since I was two years old.”
What do you love doing more than anything else?
Dance! I love dancing so much because I get to challenge myself and learn new moves all the time. I also think my dance teachers are really
fun!
What has your journey in the competitive dance world been?
My competitive dance journey began when I was 5 years old. I danced in a jazz and musical theatre troupe with Bay of Plenty Performing Arts. I started my first solo when I turned 6 and now do jazz, lyrical, hip hop, contemporary, musical theatre and song and dance solos! My most favorite is Musical Theatre, I love using facial expressions! The highlight of my competitive dancing journey was competing at NZDA last year.
Do you know what you want to do when you grow up?
I have lots of ideas of things I want to do; I want to dance for Beyonce, be in a musical on Broadway in New York City, an actress in Hollywood and be a fashion model!
Have you done any modelling in the past?
I have had a few paid jobs but usually just pretend to be a model in my bedroom!
Is modelling something you want to do more of?
Yes! I’d love more modeling jobs. Modeling is really fun and every time I have meet some cool friends.
What was your favourite part of the photoshoot?
Getting my hair and makeup done.
What are some quirky facts about you?
I love Care Bears, my favourite is Share Bear!
I have a twin sister, 2 brothers and 2 dogs.
We have a house bus and I love going on holidays with my family. We drive to lots of dance competitions together in the house bus.
